April Round-Up

Today is a very important day for me – I am submitting my dissertation which means I am submitting the last assignment I will ever complete as an undergraduate.

The past few years have flown by and I have another post coming soon looking back at those years but today I wanted to share with you my round-up for April.

April is always a busy month for me. It is my birthday month, it is also Easter which means I normally go away on holiday and the sun starts to shine meaning I actually get out more.

Life

I thought I’d do this section a little differently to normal and go through all my Instagram posts from the month of April and talk about them. After all, this platform is where I show most of what’s going on in my life.

Alongside my birthday, it was also two of my closest friend’s birthdays – Shelley my longtime friend since we met working at Thorpe Park and Aileen my housemate and the first person I met when I started uni.

The weather got a lot better which instantly lifts my mood – for my birthday I was blessed with an incredibly sunny day. I spent the day with Jake who took me to the Lizard which is basically at the end of Cornwall and where he grew up. We spent the day on a private beach with his dog and enjoyed a picnic too. He also woke me up with prosecco and breakfast. It was such a special day which ended with my housemates taking me for dinner.

I also took part in a couple of photoshoots for my friend for her final project. I uploaded a blog post based on this project which you can read more about here if you’re interested. It’s all about body confidence and self love.

Following mine and Shelley’s birthdays, we took a small break away to Paris which you can read more about in my 48 Hours in Paris post.

I also became a content writer for body positivity campaign Be U. Being able to write about this topic is something I love as it is very close to my heart and I get to work with a group of girls who are really good friends of mine.

Finally I completed the final draft of my dissertation which I have just submitted.

Music

Following on from my Go-To Music playlist, I refined the playlist to songs I would listen to constantly and have created the below playlist as a result.

A couple of my favourite songs from this month are: Someone to You by BANNERS | Power Over Me by Dermot Kennedy | Dissolve Me by alt-J | Sixteen by Ellie Goulding | Without Me by Halsey |

Books, TV and Film

Seeing as my dissertation has been taking up most of my time this month, I haven’t actually read anything or watched any new TV shows. However, seeing as my dissertation was a screenplay and a few films came out that I have wanted to see for a while, I thought I could justify seeing them.

First film I saw was Jordan Peele’s new movie, Us. In fact, I saw it twice. This film, if you haven’t seen it already is amazing. I read Peele’s Get Out in order to help me learn about formatting screenplays and I honestly have no idea how he comes up with these films. I have watched quite a few interviews since seeing the film and, if you haven’t seen it, I urge you to watch it. I don’t want to say much else about it as I know I will just spoil it if I talk about it. But it was good enough to see it again, and the second time around you notice many more little details that Peele has put in so subtly that you won’t take in the first time round. This film is one of those that you need to watch again and again to take in every bit of information.

I also went to see Avengers: Endgame last weekend. Wow. Just Wow. It has been sold out most days this week but I have wanted to see it again. This 3-hour masterpiece was more dialogue heavy than previous Marvel films however the amount of action does not disappoint. Again, I don’t want to say much more on the film as even dropping one bit of information could be a massive spoiler. All I would say is get tickets to see this film as soon as possible!

Now that uni is over and finished with, I will be uploading more onto this blog. I am going away next week however plan to come up with a lot of content whilst I am away.

As I said before I am now a content writer for Be U Campaign and the blog launched this morning so you can check it out here. I can’t wait to start writing again more now that uni is finished and can’t wait to share with you guys my plans for summer and plans beyond graduation.

Have a great weekend xx
