I thought I should write a post checking in with you guys as a lot of my posts recently have been very generic. Not that that’s a bad thing as they’re still personal to me and ones I like to write – I just feel like I haven’t been myself and I thought writing a diary type post could get me back into the swing of things. So I took a little trip to the beach and other places around Falmouth to just think about life and check in with myself with regards to how I’m doing. This is such an important thing to do as sometimes life can get a bit overwhelming so taking a minute to yourself is never a bad thing.
I have been a bit reckless recently. Not really but I have had 3 new piercings and 3 new tattoos in 3 months which I know is quite a lot. I’ve had my septum pierced and my helix pierced twice, I had wanted the helix piercings for a while but the septum piercing was very spur of the moment when my piercer said I would suit it. I do really like it but it looks a bit funny with a nose ring as well. The first tattoo I got done in January on my upper arm – it’s a bumble bee surrounded my flowers. Joelle from Shaded Lady in Falmouth tattooed me and she is one of the best in my eyes. She’s very light handed and is quick and friendly. I am so pleased with how it looks now and amazingly well priced too. My most recent two were done in the last week of March by Jonny magpie in Newquay. Before I got them done I went to Newquay for the day with my boyfriend as he was booked in with Jonny to be tattooed and, obviously, I was drawn in by the designs Jonny had on his wall. I messaged him the next day asking if he could come up with an unalome design and he came up with about 20! I knew which one I wanted straight away however there was another small one I fell in love with and so decided to get that one as well when I was there.
If you are a new reader then you might not know I’m a Creative Writing student at Falmouth University in Cornwall. I’m coming up to the end of my second year which means that all my assignments are due. I have two portfolios, two pitches, two essays and I have to try and get a piece of writing published. Needless to say it’s quite a stressful time for me at the moment.
I’m also working 25-30 hours a week at the moment alongside uni and sometimes my managers forget I’m trying to get a degree as well as get enough money to pay my rent, bills and general living expenses. It does get difficult sometimes balancing uni, work, family, friends, a boyfriend and a blog sometimes so I wanted to post this today to let you guys know I am trying as best as I can, but over the next few weeks assignments might get the better of me so I won’t be posting as much as I’d like. I am, however, going to Amsterdam this weekend so am hoping to have some scheduled blog posts ready in case I begin to breakdown as one of my biggest passion is blogging and I wouldn’t want to let that suffer.
I wanted to take a quick moment to say thank you for reading my blog. Whether you’re a friend, family, fellow blogger or follower I appreciate all of you massively as you keep me motivated to write and upload onto Jessiecrescent. And I couldn’t ask for anything more.
