I’ll admit, I may have spent a bit more than I should have in January on make up…okay a lot more. But what I did spend has been put on my face everyday to make me slightly presentable for work and daily outings. Here is what as been on my face in January
Before foundation I have been applying either hydraluron on the Zelens Z-22 face oil as I have recently noticed my skin has been getting very dry in spots. I never thought I’d be a dry patch kinda girl but I guess as we change so does our skin. For foundation I have been going for the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation in the shade 5 medium which I bought this month and have been loving it. The coverage is build able so I like to go for a medium coverage all over with full coverage where I have scarring from past blemishes. To apply I have been using the Zoeva Face shape brush which fits perfectly under my eyes and round my nose, it also blends beautifully. Or for days when I want something a bit lights my maybelline anti-age concealer has been my base product of choice – I’m not worried about my skin ageing but I love the formula of this concealer and applying this in the places I need it is nice and light. For an even more natural look I am loving the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge; I soak this in water and then just use it to blend the concealer into the skin. I’ll also use it sometimes after my charlotte tilbury foundation to make sure everything blended and natural. Even though I only bought the Clinique Chubby Contour Stick in the last week of the month I used it every day that week. I have always been scared to contour my face because I was never sure how to but this cream contour is so easy to blend even if you mess up you can make it work. I apply this under my cheekbones, the sides of my nose, down my neck and on my forehead then blend with my Real Techniques Expert Facebrush. Next for powder I have hit pan on my Hourglass ambient lighting powder in Ethereal Light so have recently switched the the same powder in Diffused light. I love the finish both shades have but only put diffused light on certain places of my face as it has tiny flecks of shimmer in it. To apply I rotate between the Real Techniques duo-fibre face brush, the Real Techniques setting brush or the Real Techniques Bold Metals 103. Finally for blush I have been using theBalm’s Frat Boy blush on the apples of my cheeks very lightly with the Zoeva Luxe Sheer Cheek Brush as it gives a very nice flush to the skin.
Eyes wise, I have been using my Charlotte Tilbury The Sophisticate palette and Stila Kitten on my lids. Kitten as a highlight on my brow bone and inner corners and the in the Sophisticate I have been using the top right shade all over the lid and into the crease and the bottom left in the outer corner. To apply I have used the mac 217 then the morphe m441 to blend the shades together. Towards the end of the month I found my Stila Eyes are the windows palette in the shade Soul and have been using the shades kitten, thought and heart. Kitten on the lid, thought in the outer corner and heart through the crease. Applying these with my Real Techniques bold metals brushes 200 and their new 203 then blending again with the morphe m441. For mascara I have been loving an old favourite again: the Lancome hypnose volume-a-porter mascara.
Lips this month have been natural and nude. I have been using my eos lipbalm or aquaphor before applying the Fleur de Force Lipgloss in Written in the stars.
So that’s been in my January make up bag, what have been your go to products?
