For when you need a happiness boost

Transitional seasons can be hard. I know, I know in my last post I couldn’t stop talking about how much I loved this time of the year but everyone has down days and they can be really hard.

Sitting in my room writing everyday seemed like the best thing ever when I had just finished my exams. But halfway through September I got into a massive slump, I had no idea what I was doing with my life. I knew what I wanted to do but I didn’t know how to get there. My writing inspiration was drying out and I had no idea what kind of things to post, I started to question if writing and blogging full time was really what I could do for the rest of my life.

So I took a break. I took a break as I had scheduled posts anyway and just didn’t really spend much time thinking about jessiecrescent for a while. It sounds bad but it was really helpful. It gave me time to find inspiration, I got to relax and just think about what I really wanted. Here are some of the things I did that could give you a happiness boost too…

#1 Look forward to something – Right now I am rehearsing for Fright Nights at Thorpe Park and it’s really exciting. I can’t wait to get in there and do my thing it’ll be a great experience

#2 Loved Ones – no matter what you’re doing, if you’re successful or not the people who love you unconditionally will not care. Whether this is family, or really close friends spending some time with them really makes you appreciate what you have currently and can remind you of this if you’ve forgotten IMG_4045

#3 Laughter – When I was spending all day writing in my room I was on my own and there’s only so many youtube videos you can laugh at before that becomes lonely. Meeting up with one of my best friends for dinner one night changed this and proved that laughter and loved ones are the key to happiness

#4 Take a trip – I am guilty of driving away from my problems. But sometimes that’s a good thing. Driving takes you mind off things and lets your subconscious drift away. You can also blast some of your favourite songs (Florence + the machine my latest obsession) and sing along without a care – just drive and sing carefully…

IMG_4627 IMG_4623IMG_2859#5 Cuddles – I just wanted to include this because I had so many cute pictures of a little puppy… Animals don’t care if you make sense and will always be there to cuddle if you don’t have another person. They also don’t say no to an adorable photo or two

#6 Break from routine – Life is a journey so sometimes there will be a bend in the road which you’ll need to adapt to. Breaking from routine is a great way to practice this. Escapism is the best sometimes … whether it’s a good book, a movie, a playlist or simply a little time spent blogging, escaping from your day to day pressures for an hour or so, to do something you genuinely love is a really good idea when you’re needing a little positivity boost
