Wanderlust of 2015

wanderlust

I’ve never been one to be really keen on travelling.

I grew up going skiing in France once a year and then Dorset in the Summer but that was it for me really, I didn’t go out of my way to complain that I wanted to go on holiday or travel. In 2006 I went on my first “big” trip to Trinidad and Tobago where my dad is originally from and I can’t even remember it! After that I don’t think I went anywhere until 2008 when I went to Florida.

Fast froward to now and with places like Paris (way different to the Alps), Spain, Colorado, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and soon to be California under my belt, I spend the majority of my evenings scrolling through travel blogs and planning when and where I can go next.

I think the realisation that I loved to travel hit me when I went to Paris a year ago and was amazed at how much culture there was that I barely knew about. From then on I wanted to learn more about everyone’s culture, not just the one we are handed on a silver platter.

Recently I’ve been debating whether to defer a year and go travelling for a couple of months, then find somewhere to get an internship – maybe a magazine or publishing company? That way I can spend my time focussing on the things I love most – travelling, blogging and writing in general. Then if I don’t figure out what I want I can always go to University when September/October 2016 rolls around.

Here are a couple of places I would love to be given the chance to visit in the next coming years:

  • Iceland
  • Toronto
  • Vancouver
  • New York
  • Chicago
  • Los Angeles
  • California
  • San Francisco
  • Yosemite
  • Ecuador
  • Galapagos
  • Auckland
  • Fiji
  • Gold Coast
  • Sydney
  • Hong Kong
  • Dubai
  • Delhi
  • Jaipur
  • Bali
  • Moscow
  • Amsterdam
  • Italy
  • Venice
  • Rome

What do you think I should do? Straight to Uni or take gap year and travel?

A good website for gap year travellers
